Building the World of the HHC: The Music

If I had known two years ago what I know now, I wouldn’t believe it. I’ve gone from a writer to a mastermind, building a world. I want the stories to come to life, and that makes building the world of the HHC incredibly important.

Bringing the stories to life is a creative process. We have many ideas that will give readers areas to really explore. Location blueprints, “Day in the Life of'' photoshoots with characters, and character interviews.

The creative process I’m most excited about has been the Spotify Mixed Tape playlists for each character.

If you haven’t explored the website, look in the “Meet the Characters'' section. You’ll find all the characters that you love, and love to hate. They each have interviews and their very own Spotify Mixed Tape list.

Some of the songs have been mentioned in the books, but others are purely what that character listens to through their headphones while they meander through the Hollywood High quad.

Music is incredibly important to the book series, my personal life, and most people. We bond with music as it creates our personal life soundtrack.

It wasn’t as easy to create that life soundtrack in the 90’s. If you were lucky, you created a mixed CD. Often, I created mixed tapes, recording songs from the radio, carefully spaced one after the other on a Memorex tape.

Today, it’s so easy to create a Spotify playlist. The modern-day accessibility of our musical world is something I can’t resist. Enjoy the soundtrack of our characters' 90's lives!

Welcome to the minds, emotions, and realities of the characters of the HHC.
