Cover Shoot Wardrobe Planning

After five individual cover shoots it became necessary to get the remaining eleven book covers shot. People's lives change. They move, age out of their characters, and change careers. After running the math, it became apparent that we couldn’t wait. We had to get our images “in the can,” because losing any of these incredible artists to the changes of life would be devastating. (Can you imagine the series without Adam and Melanie on book covers?)

This massive task was insane enough that I didn't have time to fear it. I should have feared it, though. Once we finished the unreal shoot day, I definitely had a moment of hindsight fear, but in the planning and pre-shoot execution phases, I just kept working through tasks. The wardrobe for all the covers, and combinations of character shots, proved an ample distraction.

With careful planning, I created an eleven-page list of what every character needed for each cover, right down to their bracelets and shoes. Some pieces were available in models' personal wardrobes. I gratefully accepted their willingness to bring those items to the shoot. Once that list was compiled, I looked over what was left. It was a lot, and my head spun.

I began the arduous task of ordering wardrobe items. Packages containing hundreds of pieces kept being delivered. Each new package brought a new series of checkmarks to my list.

The final collection of ready wardrobe was impressive. Check it out!
